The song was co-written by Lady Antebellum and Josh Kear, and produced by the trio along with Paul Worley. It serves as the lead-off single and title track to their second studio album, Need You Now, which was released on January 26, 2010. The song spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in late 2009. Thereafter, "Need You Now" crossed over onto various pop and adult contemporary music charts, becoming a top five hit in Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand, as well as a top ten hit in the Netherlands and Norway. Lady Antebellum description
Lady Antebellum is an American country pop music group formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2006. The trio is composed of Hillary Scott (lead and background vocals), Charles Kelley (lead and background vocals) and Dave Haywood (background vocals, guitar, piano, mandolin).
The group made its debut in 2007 as guest vocalists on Jim Brickman's single "Never Alone", before signing to Capitol Records Nashville and releasing "Love Don't Live Here". The song peaked at No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart in May 2008, and served as the first single to the group's self-titled debut album.
