"Desperado" is a soft rock song by the Eagles, an American rock band, written by group members Glenn Frey and Don Henley. It first appeared on the 1973 album Desperado, and has later appeared on numerous compilation albums although it was not a single. William Ruhlmann of Allmusic described the song as one of the band's best, saying that it showed the strength of Henley's and Frey's co-writing but also called it a "painfully slow ballad." Media accounts indicated that "Desperado" was the favorite song of military veteran Pat Tillman. A taped version of the song was played at a memorial service in his honor in 2004.
