The single peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and #1 on the adult contemporary chart, and it was certified gold by the RIAA for over half a million copies sold. McBroom won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, although she was not nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
